DAY 1 TranzAlpine, Hari Hari (D)
Board the award winning TrazAlpine trains for a spectacular scenic journey across the Southern Alps,  New Zealand's largest mountain range, to Arthurs Pass.   Join our coach and travel down the rugged West Coast to Hari Hari for our overnight stay.

DAY 2 Hari Hari, Franz Josef, Wanaka (BD)
Today we enter the World Heritage-listed area of Wahipounamu -South West New Zealand. View the maganificient Franz Josef Glacier (weather permitting) nestled in the rainforest.   Nowhere in the world's temperate zones are glaciers as acessible as here.   There may be the opportunity to enjoy a scenic flight over this incredible region(own expense weather permitting).  Cross the snow capped Southern  Alps and through Haast Pass, previously an ancient Maori greenstone trail.  We trace the beautiful shoreline of lake Hawea to the lake side settlement of Wanaka

DAY 3 Wanaka, Queenstown (B)
Enjoy a leisurely start to the morning as we follow the Kawarau Gorge to  Arrowtown, established after gold was discoverd in the Arrow River in 1862.  This quiet settlement was once bustling with thousands of gold miners seeking their fortunes, today it is a living reminder of days gone by.  We continue to the action-packed alpine resort of Queenstown.

DAY 4 Queenstown at Leisure (B)
Queenstown is an exhilarating year-round, alpine resort, perfect for adventures and leisure seekers alike.  Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, overlooked by the majestic Southern Alps.  Today is free for you to explore (own expense).

DAY 5  Queenstown, Milford Sound (BD)
Today we follow the Remarkables Mountain Range and trace the shore of  Lake Wakatipu to  Fiordland Natinal Park. Journey along the  Milford Road, renowned as one of the world's finest Alpine drives to Milford Sound. We board the Milford Mariner and cruise the full length of this beautiful fiord before anchoring for the night in sheltered Harrison's Cove.

DAY 6 Milford Sound, Invercargill (BD)
This morning wake to the unbelievable sights of Milford Sound and enjoy breakfast surrounded by the silent majesty of this area. Depart Milford sound and journey to Invercargill.

DAY 7 Invercargill, Dunedin (BD)
We depart Invercargill this morning and travel through the spectacular Catlins district.   The coast abounds with marine life.  We journey through large native reserves, which spill down to the waters edge before arriving in Dunedin.  The city was settled by the Scottish in 1848 and is now renowed as the 'Edinburgh of the South'.

DAY 8 Dunedin, Mt Cook,  Lake Ohau (BD)
Enjoy a brief city sightseeing tour, before departing Dunedin.  Journey north to Moeraki Beach with its unusual boulders.  Enter Mt Cook National Park, part of the World Heritage-listed area and view Mt Cook, New Zealand's highest mountain.   Continue to the settlement of lake Ohau.

DAY 9 Lake Ohau, Christchurch (B)
Leave the High Country behind  and travel through the vast patchwork plains of Canterbury to Christchurch.  Your tour concludes arrival and departure transfer to the airport is included.
